I assume he means rpm limit raise higher than he dares to find.....

IIRC AA raise the rpm limit about 250rpm higher.

Porsche likes to hold some horses for marketing reason so they can sell the next models with more horse power so for those who say if chip could add power Porsche people would have done it.

Nice thread resurection... but you are wrong.

The stock tune on the early 32v cars is fairly conservative in that there should be any knock under normal operation. As I recall, the AA chips advance the timing (and some fuel) about 9 degrees (or was it 12?). And then relies upon the knock sensors to retard in case of detonation. The advanced timing adds about 25 more HP, but at the expense of the safety margin.

According to Ken the AA chips really aren't so much of a 'tune' as they are a WOT fuel dump. He's reviewed the code.

The early 32v cars don't have knock sensors, hence the conservative tune. They could tune more aggressively with the S4s because knock sensors were added.

Yeah... I should have been more clear. I was specifically talking about the 87-88 S4's. They seem to respond quite well to the chips.
