My first car (graduation present) was a 1966 Mustang convertible with every GT option with the exception of the 302 engine (had the 289). Light metallic blue. White top. Pony interior. Got hit in Georgetown. My uncle in Illinois has completely restored the car.

The first car I purchased was a 1979 BMW 320i. "Very Brown" ala Jim Bailey's 928. Loved that car. Classic BMW looks. Easy to work on. Wish I still had that one or, even better, the 1974 BMW 3.0 CS I had.

Regards,

The first car i ever bought myself was a 1983 Plymouth Turismo 2.2. Bought it when i was 20. Got the loan on my own without a cosigner. I had no choice, my father refused to cosign. (dont blame him either, It was my responsiblity to be a man)
I drove that car for 10 years and 230k miles. I called the local salvage yard to come get it outta my driveway after i bought my 1993 Ford Ranger 4x4. It still ran, but barely.

I had traded in my first ever car to get it. When I was 16 my father did help me get a 1974 Plymouth Gold Duster. Red with white vinyl top and black interior. He picked it out. He didnt want to get me the '69 Chevy Malibu that a friend of his was selling. Needless to say that car was a friggin tank. Big and slow. Perfect car for a teen.

Humble beginnings: I started with a 1989 Ford Escort back in college (undergrad class of 94). I drove that thing into the ground.

Moved onto a new Ford Exploder after that. Funny that I'm back in the "used" car market again.

Now I'm telling my age but my first purchased car was a 53 Hudson Jet. Paid $50 and spent another $400 having the motor rebuilt.

I bought my first sports car in 1969. It was a new Triumph Spitfire. Paid $1,750 (from the factory). I drove it in England for three years then sold it for $1,300. I've owned Porsches since 1985.

John Welch--

Your are so correct! The Triumph Spitfire was a wealth of hands on "wrenching" experience. Thank you UK!

I extend a thanks to the list for sharing excellent stories of where it all began.

Cheers,

I had a '81 brown 4 door Chevy Chevette. Some guys back in highschool picked it up and placed it on a curb so I couldn't drive away.

Thumbs up

Gospel, just don't tell anyone!
A 65'/66' 80cc Yamaha two stroke that made it
from Pittsburgh to Austin, Texas and back... .
The PO sold it to me for $225.00 and swore he would never drive a bike again.
I wonder why?
First lead sled was a 1964 Falcon Futura 'Sprint'.
Black with a red side body stripe, red interior.
Big bore 6 (260ci I think...) fed by THREE Autolite carbs. I'm sure people were slitting their wrists after being severely thrashed by a light weight "economical, second, family car".
Wasn't the coolest car at the Big Boy/MacDonalds
lots' but it grew on ya'.
My second favorite car behind Pattycakes would be the 1962 New Yorker, all electric, 'MOON BUBBLE'
dash with orange flourescent needles on a blue green background, and the smoothest hemi ever made 413ci, galvanized body. She was a classic "found it in a farmers barn, $300.00
special" . "Yes Mam, I could probably give you that in cash money". Called her the
'River Queen' aka the "love machine " - the front seat was as big as a sofa! No smog stuff 19 - 22 mpg on the road 14 - 17 mpg in town. NO known top speed ...
