Grab A Manual Please
Hi Guys / Gals,
Could someone grab their manual and let me know what the torque spec is for the cam cover standoffs and hex head bolts for my '85?
I need the info and my manuals are at home.
Don't confuse the torque specs from the S4 engines. They were using hex socket cap screws and I'm not sure if they are the same. I have also considered using blue loctite on the standoffs to prevent them from spinning out if I ever take the covers off again and off course, antiseize on the hex head bolts themselves - any thoughts?
FWIW - I checked on replacement washers for my cam covers and they have to be ordered directly from Porsche (Off the beaten path parts). I also think they may be a little pricey.
I think I can get suitable replacements from Fastenal here in Socal. If I'm successful, I will post the part numbers.
These would include the 20 or so thick washers for the bolts in oil areas and also the 4 bolts that live in the un-oiled areas. I think these could be replaced with whats called "bonded sealing washers"
Cheers
Bernie

AFAIK there is no torque spec for the Cam Cover bolts. Between the oring washers and the cupped metal washers - you can only tighten the bolts a certain amount before they bottom out.
Keep in mind that the only purpose for the bolts is to hold the cover on so as to not allow any oil to leak out between the Cover and the Head.
I just tightened the Cam Cover blots on my 87 until they were snugged - but not 'star' torqued.
