Racing video clips from Laguna seca SCCA ITE race and Buttonwillow Superlap
Here is the gopro Hero3 video from the Laguna Seca ITE grand finale race.
This is the start lap and the restart lap.

Here is the Buttowillow Superlap video with the camera at track level
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4k3trAiqH7o
This video is a couple of laps from the Superlap challenge from Buttonwillow California. It was a tuner event with top cars from all over the world competing in 4 classes. The Holbert 928 was in the Limited class which means factory glass, DOT RA1s (100treadwear) and street licensed. 1:59 was good for second place, beating out the GMG prep'ed Porsche GT2 turbo by a couple of tenths.
The video is cool, because we put the go pro camera on the front splitter attached to the toe hook. PLus, we were able to runs straight pipes, no mufflers due to no noise restrictions AND, since the SCCA seasons is over, the new motor is coming, we took all shifts to redline!
check it out!

check out some of the pics on this forum
there was some pretty cool hardware out there.
but the cream of the crop was that red evo running 1:43 !!
for perspective, is was more than 15 seconds faster than me. At laguna, where i run 1:39 down to a 1:24 for the 15 seconds diff, is the time of the GT2 ALMS ferarris, porsches and others!

Nothing does a 1:30 at buttonwillow, except formula 1 . that was a different event. sounds familar. might be Willowsprings, an event a while ago.
The superlap finals were at Buttonwillow and i dont think the results are in yet.

Who took 1st in the limited class? Assuming that red Evo was in an unlimited class with those times, right?
Great video! Congrats on 2nd place in your first crack at it w/ the old Holbert car.

There was an unbelievably fast S2000, no blower, that ran a 1:54. Generally, all the real fast BMWs that i run with, run 1:56-7s on Slicks. Plus, they run better at buttonwillow, due to that configuration really favoring the light cars like an S2000. The vipers we run with at laguna, run 1:53-4s at Buttonwillow on DOTs. I think they are all at Laguna Seca this weekend for another TimeAttack event, it will be interesting to see how they all do.
The ole Holbert car was amazing this season and is still running real strong!
Yes, that particular Evo was running in unlimited. they are a fully sponsored professional team, with a factory car. It was very impressive. to think that it would beat Speed World Challenge GT top 3 cars by over 5 seconds a lap is pretty amazing!!

The Evo platform does seem to lend itself quite well to road courses.....with up to 800hp+ available.....in a fairly light car with 305's all around should be fast

Is 1:37.53 at mid ohio fast??

yes, it is a fast platform, but no different than the audi RS6 or S4 with all their upgrades. the evos that are real fast, have the wide bodies and / or run the bigger tires. Wide is key for the fast ones, along with the big HP . generally, they are not that light, with the excpetion of the CF HKS Evo. it weighed 2100lbs and had 600hp!
1:37 is not that fast at mid ohio. Its basically what the holbert car would run, based on the speedtouring cars (top 10) (1:34s) and carol in the mustang that i used to beat and she ran 1:36.
The T1 record is near 1:32 with many of the top T1 vets or vipers running 1:34-5s
speed world challenge GT at mid ohio is near 1:27s now (edit: correction)

Overall the footage is kind of boring (i prefer the wheel to wheel stuff) , unless you like the sound of the 928, which i do too! I figured if we were not going to win, we may as well make the most noise. I cant tell you how many folks came buy to comment on the sound of the 928!
