Hi

Be glad you do not live in the UK.... we pay over £30 for a genuine air filter...thats around $65..

In your position personally I would use a K&N and replace it every 50,000 miles...

All the best Brett

For $25 it seems pretty cheap.

This presentation also 'benefits' the K&N as it appears to show a great deal more flow, just as it benefits the filter that appears to filter much better.

The important thing for me with the K&N is the comparisons I have seen that show the pressure drop over the filter does not suggest real HP gains. Like less than one.

I have also found grit in airboxes and motorcycle intake runners that concerned me when running K&N. This grit may not be a big deal as people seem to have run K&N for many miles without drama, but to me grit is grit and I just do not want it in my motor if I can buy a better filter, see no real HP loss, and have an easier time changing the filter.

The combination of (probably) no real HP gains and more grit, plus the hassle of cleaning and oiling means no KN for me.

Jason, if you are concerned about filtering the air, then you should just make a custom intake setup to use filters out of a honda civic (or equivalent). Keep the stock airbox, hose clamp some hoses into the intake tubes, and mount the filter between the airbox and the intake ducting at the front of the car. Or buy one of those blackbird deals.

I can get you better intake flow.
Just remove that dumb filter.

Less fitration.
More airflow.

You get to choose one or the other.
