New Owners Intro Document
Hi All,
I put together a document to help new owners find some of the sites and bulletin boards that many of us have found useful. Covers shopping,PPI,parts, maintenance, and a starter list of other sites as well as the bulletin boards and mail lists. I got some great input from Theo J, Darren, Davor,Glenn L, and Wally P. George Suennen has put it up on his web site at:
http://sis125.berkeley.edu/928/928-newby.html
It's also on Tony Harkin's V1uhoh site: http://members.rennlist.com/v1uhoh/
I did this after I'd sent a number of emails to new owners w some site recommendations..thought it would be nice to have a more complete "intro" document. A more careful reading shows it needs some more clean-up and if any of you have comments or corrections, I'd appreciate them. I found some new sites in the feedback I received so it was a worthwhile undertaking for me and I hope it's useful to others. Wanted to let you know it's out there.
BTW, no 'pride of authorship' here..if you want to get a copy (word,html,text..looks crummy) and cut/paste/etc for your own use or website, please feel free to do so. I'll send you the file.

I bought a book called "The Directory" sources for parts and accessories for porsche cars. by Driven by Design
It contains 263 pages of info on places to buy just about anything for your car and about 10 pages are specific to just the 928.
Between it and the PET system I was able to identify the parts needed for my shift mecanism (auto) and find a place that had the replacement parts

John,
I haven't seen that book but it sounds like it'd be worthwhile. Can you give me any details....author, where you got it?
thanks,
Jim

In reply to those who wanted to know more about the book i mentioned the ISBN number is
ISBN-1-892246-02-3. It author is David Terdy, published by Driven by Design out of Carmel California 93923. I found it on Ebay and bought it for $17.00 plus shipping. They give a web site but it is just under construction www.driven-by-design.com.
Sorry I can't give any more specifics
