Has that bumper been painted before or is it just an illusion?

why did he back up? Did the construction company have traffic stopped? Were there police traffic directors there? I would put a call into the construction company (or find out who their insurance carrier is via the client...eg: the town/county/state, etc)....you can likely get paid for the repair by them if the pickup owner does not.

There are typically VERY strict guidelines in construction contracts for what is and is not allowed as far as traffic interface....violate these and it's all your nickel...follow them and you're still liable in most cases.

I don"t think that would fly. Even if someone asked the dirver to back up, it was his/her responsibility to make sure not to hit anything in the process. A properly aproved traffic protection plan is a must in a construction zone that interferes with traffic. But someone backing into a car behind them at a stop has nothing to do with it.

Dude that sucks.

Good luck, I'm still in litigation 14 months after my car was towed improperly. Still no settlement...

two lane road, one lane dug up. alternating traffic using the one good lane. the sign chick let about 6 cars thru and then stopped the truck and i after we were already half-way in the on-coming lane. his rear-view mirror was blocked by trash cans and he didn't look out his side mirror (where i could clearly see his face as he turned while backing). he said "i didn't see you, your car's too low". or your trucks too high. as soon as i saw his reverse lights i laid on the horn, didn't do any good.

the work crew wouldn't give us any of their names and denied seeing anything. all we got was a business card for their supervisor who wasn't even there.

police don't guide traffic in construction areas here. they don't even show up to non-injury accidents...

Same thing happened to me a few years back. The driver of the truck that tagged my 928 was unlicensed and uninsured. She wasn't interested in sticking around, so I blocked that friggin' truck with my shark until the po-po arrived.

Next time , pull over and call the cops. If the other party leaves, that's hit and run.

That happend to me 2 or 3 times in my '82. Always a truck. I was lucky in that they were never as high as your truck, so they just pushed the bumper in.

Dave,

Sorry to see that. I think the horns in our cars are too quiet. Does anyone make a supercharged horn?

Yes, I agree totally. I need a locomotive horn. Nothing is too loud it seems sometimes, especially at speed. There are times to be polite, and then the other times when some people need the **** scared out of them. Sharkskin has a loud horn, and maybe he will see this and tell us where he got his. Here is another site:
http://www.truckaddons.com/Catalog/s.../wolo-horn.htm. But a train horn is my choice .....if I could find a locomotive accessory parts store around here.
