Hello. You might remember that I posted earlier on how to install a stereo system in my 928. Well over the past week and a half I have been running new speaker wire and getting rid of the horrible custom job that was done before I bought the car. So I started to remove the Kenwood system and install my new Alpine 7897 and to my horror the wiring jod looked worse than a 4th grade science project. So I have these cut wires and have no idea what their for. I also have the wire diagram and am having trouble reading. So I need help. The first set of wires has brown and white, brown, larger brown, skinny white, red, red, red and white, and skinney red. Second set of wires are red and bigger brown. Then there ar wires the go into a relay (12V 20/30A 0332 204 150) If anyone has any suggestions or pictures tofollow I would very greatful. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="eek.gif" />
Back of relay.
Larger red wire 1
Big Brown wire 1 1 Blue wire
Now wire --
White wire 1
Back of relay.

things look a lot more complicated that they need to be in there due to the wiring for the old amp down the side of the passenger seat and the fader **** control next to the driver seat. This is all junk now and you should route your speaker wires straight back to the head unit main connector where the wires will connect in pairs. Can't help with specifics right now, sorry.
Two weeks ago I did this in my car (easier as the seats were out) and I removed about a kilo of redundant old wiring, far simpler without it.

What gauge wire did you run Dave for the speakers? I just posted up a some questions in a different thread. Like you i also have alot a redundant wiring left over from an ancient cell phone installation to remove.

John, couldn't tell you straight off but it was reasonably chunky speaker wire with the core about 1.5mm diameter ('ish), from my local hi-fi shop. It made it a bit awkward to route as it didn't want to bend as tightly as the weeny origional wire! It did improve things but I expect that was more from nice new crimped connectors rather than the wire.
And I have remnants of a phone install too! But I need to get under the roof lining, pillars and dash to reach it all. Someday...
