Post Rear suspension question?? Santiy check

I just noticed that my drivers side rear lower control arm appears bent! (1981 - 928 USA) There is a slim flat member part onn the arm the runs from the lower shock mount area to the transaxel area. On the passanger side, that flat member is perfectly straight but on the diver side, it appears to have a crease and is bent at the halfway point so that the section nearest the wheel is closer to the front of the car than it would be if the arm were straight. This feture is about 1/4" thick by 2.5" tall by about 14-18" long and is only a portion of the lower control arm. Is it supposed to be bent? My technical manual isn't clear enough. The crease and bend seem too perfect to have been caused by an impact? Does anyone have any insight into this?

thanks
John

I believe 'SNOW' posted on this very item. Check the archives - posts by snowball-.
If you can't find the post and Snow doesn't post by this evening I'll get back to you.
Believe there was some MIG or TIG welding involved.
Bummer! But not a HUGE problem.
