i might be wrong but it think jim bailey mentioned a guy in australia who put S4 heads on an 86.5 block. the compression ratio that resulted didnt allow the car to run on pump gas.

the valves are bigger with the S4 heads, but arent they the same castings so the 85 intakes can be installed on them
Nope.

could it just be the valve size? if not, then we are talking the computer differences. However, dont the 86s get a good boost when the chips are used?mk
Yup, they sure do. SOTP feels like around 20-25hp.

StreetJustice,
Thanks but buying/replacing or fixing the engine is a bit more than I want to take on at this time.

How soon?....well, I have to put the fender and front cover back on, and it's up at my dad's place in Montana. So I have to schedule another trip up there to put it together and run it around a bit. Hopefully I get up there around Thanksgiving time. Price?...Hmmmm, not sure yet, but very reasonable. It was in a slight accident, so that's why I have to replace the fender and front cover. 166k miles on the engine, rebuilt 5-spd with lsd, 18inch 993 turbo twist wheels. Pics?....I'll get some when I go back up to Montana. I'll keep you posted.

Rich
