Chinese movement? No more than $200 depending on complications - tourbillon doesn't count. Swiss? mucho-dinero. German or US movements are somewhere in between. I've got a beautiful Seiko that I wear a couple days a week that runs in the $200 range and is great value. But you've got to like watches.
Yeah, Seiko are making nice quartz watches now, but you know wat they say about quartz watches...they have no soul

I see by the poll that there is interest in a high end costum made watch, let me see what I can do about that....I'm thinking german watchcase, swiss movement, black aligator band and custom made dial (material and design to be defined(sp))

Will keep you posted...

Not quartz, auto or manual wind only! You should check out the Seiko movements, very nice autos. The one I'm referring to is the "Orange Monster" if you google it, amazing quality at the price point. I've been collecting mechanical watches for a while now, been into them for a long time. FWIW I voted for 3-500, figuring a nice SS case with a Chinese movement, possibly an english or US movement if you search. Hell a quick search of ebay will turn up any number of good ETA or Valjoux movements for reasonable prices that would make nice donors - just need a good dial maker and case.

Or another approach, buy a Seiko mechanical and have a custom dial made. *Very* high quality movements, keep excellent time, great casework too. I think a "sumo" or one of the Seiko5 models would work well.

If you could replicate my TAQ Heuer Chrono then I may be interested.

I agree that I use my cell phone as my time piece on many occaisions but when out on the town or at biz meets its nice to have a fancy piece of jewellery on the wrist. (no gold chains for this cowboy).

I understand that this is just information-gathering at this point, Dan, but if you intend to move forward with organizing an actual buy in the future, you must be a paid Member to do so.
OUCH!! Yet, i must agree.

Bigmac's aforementioned Breitling Shark:
Hardly a Porshe watch.

If you use the word "Porsche", the term "928" or the Porsche logo, you'll make new friends with Porsche's lawyers. Keep that in mind
A strong point to consider.

I like the idea, but it would take a pretty special watch to make me part with this

Something like that, with numerals only in the 9, 2 and 8 positions.

Great idea Charley! I'm not big on the overly luminescent details and think your logo should be a bit more subtle. I like simplicity on the dial face (think Movado or Rado) & you seem to be looking in that direction.

Simplify type by using a thinner non-serif font?

With numerals at 2, 9 ,8, that leaves room for sub-dial(s) in the lower right quadrant.

I did think about it, but estecticly(in my head) it didn't look wright.
I will modify and post back and see what happens.

As for the number's type, this one is a moded one by me and I like it; It stays.

I wasn't to big on luminous either, but after seing a Bell&Ross BR01 series up close...Iv'e changed my mind about it.

The KRANIUM logo is mine since 1997, I may reduce it a bit but not much(if at all).
I'm also working on other design for the KRANIUM time machine line; some with luminous but mostly the dials will be micro machined in limited numbers.
In the future(hopefuly), you will be "glad" to have that logo on one of your watches.... This is why I won't do a cheap watch.

Thanks to everyone for your feedback.

How did you come up with that logo? It has a certain 50's, Buck Rogers, broadcasting feel to it.

Yep, chain mail(or other metal type) was/is also a possibility.

I'm on the lookout for something "special/rare/diffferent".

There is black Ostridge availible if you want to go that route.
But black aligator/croc or even lizard that looks real sleek to are my first choices for now.

I have seen shark skin but it does not do it for me...to bad it would have been a perfect match.

Black suede would be nice to....
