Aftermarket ignition upgrade?
Anyone out there has real-life experience with installing and using a third party ignition system (such as MSD or Jacobs)?
I'm considering installing one of the above mentioned systems on my '93 GTS - the downside seems to be that two completely independent systems are required... (Due to the dual distributor system).
Any input is greatly appreciated!

I've used the MSD products (not on the 928)
and they are very reliable and do the job
as advertised.
There was a Jacob's system on my '79 when
I bought it, pulled it off and the car ran
smoother. The Jacob's wires are POS too

1) The 928 ignition system is just that - an integrated system, with components that are engineered to work together.
2) The 928 ignition system is a VERY powerful and very reliable system.
In my opinion, you are not likely to improve the system by changing to aftermarket components.

I looked into this when I first got my car. At that time MSD did not make anything for the dual dist. 928. That may have changed, but I don't think so. Additionally I would agree w/ Wally. I would not expect to see any subtantial improvement over the stock 928 system without going to a motronic or other very expensive system.
