Post newby to 928, question

Buying an 82 928S Euro 5 speed, beautiful machine.

It has the sunroof installed and I'm 6'2" tall. Headroom is a bit tight even with the seat fully down and leaned back a bit. Im wondering if anyone knows if and of the sunroof mechanism is directly over the head area and if a custom headline could be made by a talented creative interior person, or if the seat can be lowered at all?

All I need is another inch and all would be good. I just have a cramped feeling in the car, otherwise I love it.

You can go with an aftermarket lower profile sport seat. This will help with the headroom for less than trying to rework the headliner I would think. I've seen several 928' with these type installed, and they look great. Good luck with your choice.

Yeah the seats are the leather sport seats and need serious work. deciding between replacing and re covering, perhaps the seat change out would be the solution here.

THanks for the idea.

You Tramp,
Euro S. Not a bad choice. Envy you for the HP. By the way, welcome to you and your 'new' sHARk.
We share the same problem. I'm 6'2 1/2", the baseball cap lives on the passenger seat.
Though, because of my Airborne knees I went with an Auto instead of the 5 spd. Do the 5 spd's have a dead pedal or is there a lack of room due to the clutch pedal, brake, gas pedal spacing? When I picked mine up I had intended on a leisurely 3 day trip from San Diego to Midland, Texas. But with a -Common- sHARk sauna problem I lucked out and engaged/chased thunderstorms from south eastern Cal. to El Paso. A 21 hour blitz after I found a way to scrunch around and find one or two comfortable spots it turned into a good trip. Take it easy on the console I don't think it was made for the 'stylin slouch' I suppose there is some room under there for lowering a tad.
The replacement seats will probably be designed a little differently and the padding will have to be thinner to make any difference in height.
Welcome and good luck.

Saving the stock interior is my first choice. I dont usually go for lots of aftermarket pieces... But if I can't get my head off the ceiling I have to do something.

A Euro S 5 speed is an excellent choice I must say. I Hope you don't need your tailpipe sniffed. Without the "catastrophic perverter" and other emissions stuff you are definately in heavy polluter territory (stock exhaust sounds awesome though). There is a dead pedal that is even adjustable. I would recommend getting a German/English dictionary so you'll be able to translate the verbiage on the dash warning lights just in case one should pop up. Do you have the limited slip diff? That would make it even more exciting.

Hi, the other alternative you have is to get rid of the sunroof. A lot more drastic but it will free up a lot of headroom. I was talking to /Hank atgt racing, who make porsche panels :
http://www.gt-racing.com

and he was saying that one of the first 928 parts he would be working on was a composite sunroof hole plug panel. This is primarily for the racers as you save a lot of weight by dumping the metal hatch, mechanism and motor . And you get headroom too!

Cheers
