Post Seat Removal

Greetings,

I hope someone can shed some light on this problem. I am trying to remove the seats from my '83S Euro. The passenger seat is manual, but supposedly with heating elements.

The problem: I cannot get the seat far enough forward to remove the bolts from the rear of the tracks. In looking underneath, I see a silver colored box, (slightly smaller than a cigar box) bolted to the floor. It has a bunch of wires going into it from the rear.

My questions are:
1. What is this box? No reference to it in Manuals.
2. Should I try to pry seat upward enough to get it to go over top of box in order to get it out?
3. Do I have to remove the box?
4. What am I missing here?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

ok, seat removed after some prying around. Box says "Bosch" and "Jetronic" on it. I assume it is something to do with CIS.

Thanks
