Hi Stuart, welcome to Rennlist.

When you find a likely candidate, be sure and obtain a Pre-Purchase Inspection (PPI) from a place recommended by people here on this board.

You may want to post your location, apparently the east is a hotbed of 928 activity lately. Lots of networking.

And when you do finally score one of these magnificent machines, it is traditional to proudly post pictures of it.

I have an 85 for sale in that range ... but you will not find a pristine car for that. Mine ooks and runs pretty nice(ly) but wi need many small things updated/ etc. For now it is a runner, passes smog wel, displays great, and interior other than rear quarters is excellent. red over black.

yes Seattle. Shane drives it home everytime he is here in this area so it travels well. I'm not aware of any accidents and see no accident damage, but there clearly have been little bumps here and there. This is a driver's car. You can drive and fix her up over time. I have water pump and belt etc if you should decide to drive it, since I have no verifyable belt history that should be done before driving home. I replaced the steering rack recently. Dash and pod == no cracks (maybe a hair between grilles I will check). good car for a good price.

I sold one with two different color doors for $4500 so you're definitely looking for original, running...and that's about it. There are several in the northeast that I've looked at including a couple black ones, but they are a bit more. If you're looking for something to play with and work on, you're ok. But if you're looking for a fun second car you might want to raise your range a little. The difference between a $4k car and a $7k car can be astounding...or not. And the $4k car will likely eat the difference and then some in the first couple months.

To paraphrase someone else, if you can't afford to buy a good 928 then you certainly can't afford to buy a bad one.

Hey Stuart - check the "Selling my 928" post by Guido the killer pimp, and the Rennlist classifed section too.
