From experience restoring these cars, I can say to get it right buyer should expect at least 5000.00 plus the purchase price if he is careful to bring this one up to snuff,

I'd like to know more... having not seen this car in person, what makes you assume it needs $5k to be brought up to snuff? The body work it needs it pretty simple; it needs a lot of other very minor stuff; I don't see anything approaching the $5k range though. Everything can be done by someone familiar with these cars and who's somewhat handy. (and who, unlike me, has the time to spare)

Not a flame... honestly, just curious on what you base your opinion.

The seats in the car are worth more than $700 (Cobra Sidewinders; brand new, and I added Corbeau sliders with custom brackets I designed) so if the buyer wants to replace them, they'd easily get their $ back.

Momo shifter in the car is not worth nothing; I think it actually feels great and looks good too. Personal taste, but easily sold/traded.

What engine stuff is missing? There's a running, driving engine there!

Fixing the bump in the rear should cost $0, assuming the hairdryer treatment works. I agree on the paint job, though one could get away with painting only some of this car. It does shine up nicely other than the bumper covers. The ding in the fender is an easy fix.

And I believe the folks most likely to buy this car are able to handle the TB/WP job themselves, so it's just the cost of the parts for them.

In all, I'd estimate closer to $2-3k to make it a daily driver/track car, assuming the buyer does most of the work himself. On body work... it can run the gammut.

Note: mileage corrected... ODO currently reads 181,512. Not sure why I thought it had 187k on it; every little bit helps!

Looks like a $6k car to me. Personally I would rather just pay the price of admission for a well sorted one as I have been through the "restore" process and you can have $5k into it real fast. Lets not forget your time is money as well.. Good Luck with the sale.

This is what you would refer to as a "mechanics special".
From where I sit, it looks to be worth the 6K asking price as long as you
don't mind sitting on it for awhile until the right deal on replacement parts comes along. They crop up on ebay, Rennlist, etc. so I wouldn't be too nervous
on finding the bits needed to put it back in shape.
If the parts are too hard to come by, then a trip to 928 Int. or 928 Spec. may be in order to get what is needed.
It also depends on what level you want to get the car to? For me, it is always mechanical before anything else. Timing belt, thrust bearing and all the usual suspects would have to be examined and with 181K on it, needs to be checked closely.
Anything cosmetic, I could care less about because I can fix that "at will".

6K is a good price but only for the right buyer. This is obviously the place to find the right buyer.

Good luck with the sale!

Sold. I'll let the lucky rennlister-buyer take it from here... It has a long way to travel, though. Thanks to this board for making it possible.
