PORKEN - Yes, the DTA P8Pro. Good bang for the buck. Think of it this way - a new LH is 1000. A DTA is 1500.
ANd I helped the situation by selling my LH and EZK, so now I have no choice. Very nice indeed.

Normy - the Cat issue I forgot about. I will leave that alone.

But I will have to update everyone here when I get that DTA project moving. Right now its the 81 project that I am working on. Trans, TT, suspension, brakes, FPR, and headers, exh.
Fun.

I’ve been hoping someone would solve this someday. On my 83 S I installed euro cams and intake manifold about 2 years ago. When I installed the euro manifold I measured the ‘Open Area’ of the L-jetronics Air Flow meter, ‘U’ Manifold, and the Throttle Body. Here is what I found:

Air Flow meter: 5.0 sq/in
‘U’ Manifold: 6.97 sq/in
Throttle Body: 6.83 sq/in (with butterfly subtracted out)

So you can see that the L-jetronics air flow meter is choking off the intake, and that going to a MAF sensor would help a great deal. My planned solution was to go to a used Ford Mustang MAF and Brain and adapt my existing system to that, this seemed more straight forward and less cost than adapting the MAF to my existing brain. I would love to here if anyone solves this, let me know if I can be any help.

Dragging up a old dog here!!!

Has anyone done this conversion? I have a US L-jet with a Euro 4.7, Headers, and a X pipe. I modified the larger throttle body to accept the two TPS switches and find that the Barn Door is the bottle neck for the system.

Thanks
Brad

Get ahold of John Kuhn. He has a spare Split Second box that we took off of his brothers turbo car. I'm sure he would be happy to sell it and he's also a good resource if you have questions about the tuning. He's very familiar with this mod.

Several. And other ECUs as well. Link, Motec, and VEMS.

I definitely 'uncorked' my AFM in my MY '83 by Porting/(Polishing to 320) it on a drill press and dremel tool use. Then reduce the barn door spring tension by 10 clicks or more. I did 10. It's very easy, better throttle response will be noticed on start up while revving and noticeable power increase throughout rev range on the road was felt immediately. Idle is the same, plugs look normal. Hot and Cold start up is the same. Fuel consumption seems the same, a win-win.
I have been getting 'thank you' PMs from those who have tried this, the last from a guy and his buddies in Canada.
This will be a noticeable power increase and is a 3-4 hour fun job and cost nothing.

I know. You are a great example. You should do a thread on your learning from start to finish when you have a few hours.

Put the kid(s) to bed, send the wife to a spa and start typing.
