88 Euro S4 headlights
I have an 88 Euro S4 I use as a daily driver in UK(covering 12K miles in 7 months without an issue)and have read various articles about headlight adjustment - my off side (driver's side) headlight adjusts perfectly - the near side does not move - is this normal? It seems to make sense given that it is the offside headlight that will dazzle other drivers and I do use it frequently.......it's not an urgent issue but I do like to know these things.......now just to get the a/c compressor to work, the digital clock replaced and a service done...these pages are brilliant - I've done the cambelt, waterpump, fuel control valve, doorlocks and checked my a/c flaps and check valve using these pages and others on Net - anything I learn I'll be sure to pass on!
Thanks..........Andy

No, it is not normal. There is far too much variation in auto bodies for there to be no adjustement on the lights.
You might want to pull the bucket - remove a Phillips screw down low on each side of the bucket.

Wally - thanks for the response - I have manually adjusted the lights using the screws under the buckets without any problem but the adjuster **** inside the car only makes the offside go up and down - I understand from a rennlist archive that the adjustment system is hydraulic - is it supposed to operate both headlights or just the one?

Aha!
Sorry - We aren't allowed to have that system here, so I completely forgot it!
We aren't familiar with the system, but my understanding is that it is hydraulic (at least on the earlier cars) and is basically unrepairable.
Not much help, I'm afraid.
