Another Wheel Questions
Greetings,
I'm looking to replace my stock slot wheels on my 1986.5 928. I found these on ebay that came off a 1991.
Do you think this will fit mine?
These kinda look like the 997 Cup Wheels
Curious to your thoughts
Thanks!

The seller still hasn't responded with the actual wheel sizes and offsets. Those are the critical numbers you need.
If the rims say "Made in Japan" they are not original Porsche rims. My guess is that the inexperienced (or maybe Very Smart but playing ignorant) seller is reading the "Made in Japan" from the tire rather than the rim.
Ask the seller to read you the numbers off the WHEELS. It should have the size and offset cast into the wheels. If they are genuine Porsche, there will be Porsche part numbers cast into the wheel also. With those numbers you can qiuickly find out what he's selling.
You might consider looking locally for genuine take-off wheels from your local dealer. Many folks buy a new 997 and have new wheels installed immediately. The old wheels have test miles on them only. They often sell for cash at not much more than the cost of just the tires that are on them. Contrast with tith these e-bay wheels, where you'll pay shipping, and probably need to have them refurbished (straightened and refinished) before you get good tires installed on them. There's more to buying used wheels than meets the eye, in my limited experience and observations.

Not to mention 1991's didnt produce a 17" wheel to start with
I think 1993 was the first year for the stock 17" wheels. Please forgive if wrong.
Thanks Dr. Bob
and yes....the seller did contact me back and stated the wheels are made in Japan.
I have a love/hate relationship with ebay. I got tricked into buying a water pump made in china.
But then again, I bought the whole front end for peanuts

Wow, Supercups!
Katacus, if you like the look of Ed's wheels, I'd be all over those if and when he decides to sell them.
I'm sure that you'll see cheaper wheels on eBay, but it'll be tough to get the look & quality of Supercups (3.6 style), and getting the right offsets limits the choices.
Supercup/3.6 style are some of the best looking wheels for 928s and Porsches from the 80's & 90's IMO; and finding a decent set for sale with the correct offsets for a 928 is very tough.
Ed, what are you planning to replace these with?

I've had the Supercups for 6 years (got them from 928 Specialists, where I'll also get my next set). Time for a change.
Right now, they've got 265/40-17 Potenza S03PPs on the rear (totally gone!) and 255/40-17 Potenza S03PPs on the front (they're at 7/32"; 10/32" when new).
