Yeah, I'm all over that too! I did buy an updated spring kit that will (if installed a certain way) give you first gear starts and reduce and/or eliminate 2nd-3rd gear "flare" and I think it was about $12.00 from the MB dealership (it's not installed yet, but will be within the next week or two). A new modulator and servos updates? Part #'s and cost,Please!

Paul, do you need a kit to get the first gear starts? This pic taken off an MB Forum makes it appear that you only need to remove a spring, or at least change the stack order so the spring goes in the hole first before the pressure valve and you'll have first gear starts.

ATB: I got the spring kit essentially to remove the 2nd to 3rd gear "flare" (slippage) that is a known issue with this tranny. MB brought out this kit to resolve that issue and the info discovered after the fact (about switching placement or eliminating the one spring) was a BONUS! Thanks!

Paulo you have the MB part number for the kit? Will look forward to your post when you try the kit out.2nd to 3rd does seem like it would loose ET with the 2nd to 3rd gear lag.

M928: The MB part is called the "K1 spring" and the part # is: A 126 270 44 77.
I found this on a rennlist post from June of '06 threads 288715 and 58392 which shows how to do it (and also what NOT to do). I'll let you know how it works if I ever get my '91 back on the road!

Paul, when you go to install it if you get any pictures let me know.I just called today to order the spring also. When car not runnning and trans fluid not under pressure when you take off the side cover is fluid level right there or just a small passage where you can get the spring in with draining fluid down?I did the fluid within the last 1,000 miles looks like have too drain again.
