I ordered this part today. What would be the best grease to use? I supposed something very viscous would be ideal as there are metal to metal contacts?
Can I do the installation on jack stand or I should just give it to the shop to do? I have usual hand tools at home.
Thanks,
Steve

I used wheel bearing grease which has worked well so far (a few months). Installation can be tough, but I was able to do it with jack stands

The ball cup moves very little. Basically, it rocks from side to side a little. I find it best to replace the shifter ball cup while servicing the motor mounts, as then I can lower the engine a little to get more room between the shifter ball cup and the body of the car.

I used wheel bearing grease as well. 4 years and I'm happy with mine.

Carl,
I will call you to clarify step 5 and 6. In step 5 pic, the cup is already on the ball. However, at step 6, the pic shows the cup is off the ball again. Am I missing something here?
Thanks,
Steve
