George, Basic is now 8 weeks from what I was told. It makes sense what you stated, so I will probably only be able to go down for graduation. Then hopefully while in tech school. How was your stay in the Air Force? What is/was it like. . Can you give me any insight. Also, I am a former Govt employee from a different branch

Stephan,

There a two objectives of basc training. Those being physical and mental conditioning. The physical conditioning was a piece of cake for some but not for others. The mental conditioning is the toughest. The technique is to bring their self esteem down to the lower level of Maslows, then bring them up while teaching discipline and teamwork.

Dennis,

Maslows Hierarchy, Yes well aware of the triangle. But does anyone ever reach the Self Esteem at the top. But I understand the technique and as a behavior modification method, it is a great tool. B.F. Skinner was another who believed in this, only rewards and punishments were the key in his methods. But, they brought you down to build you up into a mold of the molder.

Way too much psychology going on here.

Please keep in touch, your knowledge is golden.

Stephen,

Most trainees feel they have hit the top when they graduate. How about a 928 for a graduation gift? (928 content).

I gave him more than enough. A business, a Land Rover, college an other stuff. Now it is his sisters turn, who by the way is a maniac just like her dad. The only difference is she has no fear buy more brains than I did at her age of 17.

I went through Lackland in 93'. No visitors until graduation. Aftter that I went up to Witchita Falls for school. Pretty much able to do what you want after the first couple of weeks. They like to give you back your freedome slowly. His recruiter should be able to answer all your questions.

Jim,

Which school at Sheppard did you attend? I taught at the School of Health Care Sciences from 74 to 78.

Hi Dennis. I went to the electrical systems specialist school. I wanted to get the training to become a lineman for the power company. I never did get on with the power co. I landed a job with a cable construction company because I had pole climbing experience from my school. Now I am a draftsman / designer for Charter Communications.

Well from the feedback, the experiences were all positive. For him, this is going to be life changing in a good way. Now he will learn to be on time, responsible and be part of a team. I can tell you he is a great business partner in our Lawn Sprinkler company and can lead by example. Yet he lacks some drive, but has a high IQ.
I hope to meet you all one day, for I am going to the Graduation and would love to have some of you there as well. Sounds like a possible social event. Great thing about the 928ers, always come thru.
