Question Any Heavy Lifters in Pittsburgh?

The time has come for the transmission to get lifted out and worked on. I am looking for an able body that does not mind getting a bit grimy. The car is located in the suburbs of Pittsburgh, near Ross Park Mall. I will be happy to feed and water any that can help.

The exhaust has already been removed, so pulling those rotten (and rusty) bolts is not necessary.

Thanks,
Shawn

When were you looking to pull the tranny? I'm in Cleveland so you're not far away. Depends on the time frame.

Shawn,

What is your timeframe? I will be tied up this coming weekend(Market Square on Sat. then trying to finalize a home purchase on Sunday ) but I am usually open evenings during the week. I am right in Greentree and would lend a hand(if you don't mind help from a 944 owner ).

I will give you a hand for $250 an hour plus hotel (nice one, of course) meals and bar bill, transportation to and from, and garage heat, latex gloves and lots of cold beer.

Thats what I get for driving an Airbus 300-600R. Maybe not for long, though, you know when the shooting starts, all bets are off.

Just kidding, if I were near by I would gladly lend a hand. For beer of course.

Just finished pulling the transmission on my 86 928s in Uniontown, PA. I have taken some photos of how I pulled the transmission. I would be more than happy to help you out removing your transmission but I am very busy with school. When the transmission is pulled you must take the torque tube with it. I removed the bolts from the bell houseing by the clutch and also removed the suspension and the rear suspension piece with the transmission attached to it. If you need more detailed photos of what I did, send me an email and I will send the photos to you. The photos are detailed 1024 X 768. Here is my website where you can view just a few removed shots of my transmission. Go to "1986 Porsche 928s" on my home page, then click on link "1986 Porsche 928 Repair Jobs". There will be photos and a lite description of what happened to my transmission.

Eric and Jack,

I work in Detroit during the week, so Saturdays and Sundays are the only times, at least for now, that I can do the work. I can work on some other smaller things this weekend if it is no good. I can use the help any weekend, so if you have it free, I would be quite thankful. I will give GOOD food and shelter if needed.

Any help is much appreciated; I tried to talk my wife into helping, but she wanted no part of this mess.

Thanks. Your willingness to help is appreciated.

Shawn,

Then possibly the weekend of the 22nd? I believe that I am free that Sunday-23rd. If that works for you. I will know for sure this coming week. I will check back in on Tuesday and bump this thread up .

Hey Berg -

I hear Cordell Stewart is going to be available...

(Even tho I'm down here in the sunny south - I am a big Steeler/Pens fan! - My company is based in PIT and I get there 3-4x a year!)

Hey!

I'll be home (Monroeville) on Monday and likely staying through to Sunday afternoon. I'm embarrassingly mechanically inept, and I may be small, but I’m fierce!

In that case, you may be interested to know the upcoming home schedule has Dallas and the Eagles(pre-season), with the Rams, Raiders, Titans, Cards, and Raiders joining the usual divisional clowns(Bengals, Browns, Ravens).

Shawn,

If you need help, I can help you out. As long as we are back by Monday morning for work call. Of course, I would appreciate lodging, food I can splurge for. Secondly, you pick up and deliver me home. Deal?

For those that can help, Saturday the 22nd and Sunday the 23rd are the days that I am shooting for.

John, that sounds like a deal. I will give you a call next week to organize the pickup. I can stop by on my way to PA to pick you up.

Jack Eric and Deej, absolutely help is appreciated. I have a large laundry list of jobs that need done, and most of them require more than one person. I will attempt to contact you via e-mail next week to work out specifics. I can't believe the amount of help that has been offered so quickly. All generosity will be paid back in kind.

Thanks,
Shawn

Shawn,

I think you might want to actually look at and list what tools, floor jacks, stands you have. So that, we who help might be able to think what other tools we may need to make the job go much quicker and easier.

I know for one, I love non powdered gloves, I have a kerosene heater (Hate working in the cold)

Maybe make a list of other jobs we might be able to do with everyone there, this way again we can think of what tools are needed.

Now, for us single guys.

Is there a decent bar to go to, where there are some single ladies to mingle with.

Have a good one, work calls.

If you are heading out Saturday night, there are a myriad of options depending on what mood you are in(I will be out with my GF that night). E-mail me and I can send you a list of various bars/clubs where the ladies are depending on what you are seeking(upscale, dance club, plain bar, etc.)

Shawn,
I will be available Sunday the 23rd to lend a hand. Looking forward to meeting you guys.
