IMO: SCs (especially the centrifugals) are always more attractive to the DIY set due to less complexity: you only replace or modify some intake plumbing and leave the trickier and more expensive exhaust plumbing alone. The centrifugal guys enjoy the ability to return the car to stock condition quite easily.
But you're completely right: no belt-driven air pump can beat the efficiency of the mightly turbocharger.

andrew, id love to see the GT with over 9 psi. i think it was only making about 7.4 when you took me for a spin. my own plans for adding boost have slowed down now that im a boat owner
so i will be back in detroit some time later this year, hopefully next month.. as for the orange beast, im getting some 86 cams reground to keep the bhp lust satisifed, for now!
