You're the one that made a big deal out of nothing. He is NOT Danglerb and you once again are showing yourself to be less than welcoming to new people. Go have a drink to mellow out.

Why is it whenever I see one of these 'thinking out loud' discussions, Does the RandyV alarm go off? Maybe just a case of PMS??

Ok, were even. I'm not sure danglerb isn't owed a public appology... Can we get back to some kind of intellegent discussion now?

918-S, No need to notch those pistons. The same heads, cams and valves are on the later Euro S cars and the higher CR pistons (84+) have much shallower valve reliefs. I can find a link to a diagram it that'd help. Or you can drop by and make the comparison yourself. I've got examples of both in boxes (somewhere). A fraction of a millimeter won't make your engine rip up valves. I'm running shaved heads with the shallow reliefs and stock gasket and no problems.

Randy, Get over yourself.

Hi Glen,

Thanks for the invite. I'll be in the metro tomorrow but up to my **** in claims.

So I may be back to square one. I thought my lack of knowlage with regard to the valve to piston clearance was my un-doing. hmmm...

I'll drop you an email.

Thanks

Well I tell you one thing, I'll be checking the clearance before My engine goes back in.

"Moderator Maximus Assholedness."

Wow. I dropped in for a visit, found an interesting thread, see some **** making jerk comments out of left field that I can't find any reason for, and then found out it's an admin? Gives this place a black eye.

For a second there I thought this was Randy from TX. But upon further investigation I suppose its not. Too bad, I really liked that guy.

When you're right, you're right. I was out of line - sorry.

Of course, there's always a few rail birds that are eager to jump in to provide me 'guidance' at any opportunity. Lord knows I need it at times.

I'll send 'em some freshly starched boxers to show my appreciation.

just put the heads on and put a box end wrench on one of the cam cover bolts and lever the valve down into the cylinder with the piston at TDC. if you get something around .3" you are more than fine. as someone just pointed out, the euro S 84 pistons are about .175" more shallow than the early 80 deep piston pockets, and you are worried about .030"??
dont even give it a second thought

The real question is WHY did the first S engine wipe out a valve ? and it was not just because of the heads being shaved ...that may have made it an interference motor BUT that alone did not bend the valves.
