Default Thanks to Paul Champagne

I have to lift my hat to Paul for doing such a fabulous job on my turbos steering wheel. He truly is a master at what he does and I wish I had his talents.

I only have the one picture of the wheel in the car because I have been spending all my free time enjoying it on the road. It is a work of art and really brings the interior together. I will try to get more pics but here is what he sent me and a pic in the car. It really doesn't do it justice.

That is one NICE wheel.

Paul C is amazing.

So Anthony, do you have that taco lean in your neck? How do you read those gauges?

Kind of like Raul Julia in Gumball rally. "Whats behind me doesn't matter".

When driving the turbo it is more like hold on for your life. So as long as I can see some part of the needle pointing to 12:00 I know it is time to shift. If I can't see the needle on the right I know it is time to slow down. After driving these things for 25 years you just feel your way through.

Anthony didn't actually change the gauges. They eventually ended up that way from taking too many hard right-hand turns

Anthony,

Is that steering wheel smaller in diameter than the stock Wheel? If so, has that effected the effort required while driving?

I know that I really like the thicker Carbon Fiber wheel that I've got on the 2002 Turbo.

Mike,

Yes it is a 320mm rather small compared to the stock 365mm. I really like the extra thick wheel and grip. I had a 320mm on my SC it had manual steering so you really felt it. The turbo requires a little more effort but not much. It is most noticeable on quick turns back and forth, you start to feel it in your shoulders but I never drive the car for more than a few 100 miles at a time and that goes by quick enough. I now have the Sportster CS seats in the car and with their design I need the smaller wheel to fit properly. I have the same wheel sans carbon in 360 mm in my C2. I would not use such a small wheel for track use.

You are very welcome Anthony. Projects like your wheel bring a challenge to the table that keeps my interest level where it should be.

Glad you are satisfied with the work and appreciate the efforts Linda and I have put into it.

Thanks again

Paul

The wheel was purchased through a group buy on the 993 forum. It was purchased through the rennlist sponsor Carnewal. FVD, Cargraphic and several others sell the same wheel.

Paul - This is a bit OT but do you have any pics of the ostrich interior of your S4?

Been my avatar on Rennlist and other boards for many years, back to at least 2003. I've never changed it, so you could say you stole mine.
