Rob,
As far a the dinner menus, can we just get a sample menu with choices, post it as a poll, and then the restaurant will know how much chicken/steaks/baked potatoes whatever to cook and for how many peoples?
Same for the track day?
I will be a beginner BTW

I'm in - booked the hotel this morning! Will definitely head out to the track as well (been talking about it for years).

Does anyone know if they rent helmets at MSR? I believe they do but would like to know before I get there obviously.

If I get a new windscreen I'll join you guys on the track. I've been on the track before with my shark but not that one so you could consider me a noob. Would also need helmet rental.

Shane,
Do I need to hook you up with a windshield?
Let me know what you want to do.
Best,
Roger

About the track "noobs" etc.

I've done years of auto x in SCCA, tracked the 928 3x up at Eagles Canyon, but never had "official" instruction. I suppose this puts me in the "noob" catagory.

Also, my Snell '95 helmut is apparently OOD for current regs, Rob, give us the scoop on rentals and requirements. Will we have to show some knowledge of recent brake fluid changes, or have a pre-track inspection? I know that most DE's require the inspections as far as fluids on the track, how specific and tight is MSR going to be? Also, as I'm sure, insurance will come up, is the OC or any outside body been talked to, or do we consider this neither a DE or "track use"?

Just trying to cover bases, as most of us know, there have been instances where this has had to come up. Not that any of us 928'ers will have to worry about it.

MSR helmet rental is $10. Snell 95 is OK, in fact thats all MSR rents

Sean, yes, you'll be in the newbie group. To me in the ontermediate/advanced group you'll need to be certified to drive solo by PCA, Driver's Edge, APEX, or similar group.

Insurance, you're on your own. This should be considered a driving school so your street policy should cover you, though YMMV.

For car prep, the best thing to do is download the tech sheet from PCA website and go through the checklist. This will be informal but driving on the track is serious business and your safety and safety of those around you is at stake. We'll cover the basic tech issues before going on the track as well as do spot checks. Brake fluid should be flushed within the last 6 months.

Thanks for the info Rob. Looks like I'm in good shape.

Here is the link for the .pfd checklists that Rob was talking about. http://mav.pca.org/Events/de/techform2K.pdf

Read through it and do a check for yourself. Better safe than sorry.

I'm looking forward to being there as well. Not sure if it will be the car too or just me. Depends on how much I get corrected by then. Jason

Just a quick note, the non-reserved rooms have now been dropped from the group reservation block. If you've not reserved yet, I'd call the hotel ASAP and book one of the rooms that were freed up.

I'll be there on Friday at the ranch but won't be doing any track time. Put me down for volunteer duty.
