Default Wiggle in the rear.

Under hard acceleration from a standstill, in first gear, my car has a tendency to break loose at the rear. It breaks a little to the left, and then to the right, before settling down. Tires are in good shape and not showing wear. Where should I turn my attention to improve initial grip?

try a wider stickier set of tires, cheaper than a PSD

I believe running your tires through a little antifreeze first will help...

Yep, I'm betting that's it. At SF'05 Tony tried to partake in the burnout activities that Derek and Bill Ball started. His LSD has no sense of humor...

Stop over correcting. Attention, and front wheels, pointing straight down the road.

This is a topic you won't see in the other forums.

Enjoy and good luck!

I would understand the car's behaviour if my front wheels weren't straight ahead at the time. It's easy, controllable fun to induce that sort of action in a corner. My car does not have LSD, and that's probably the reason that the back-end shimmies during the first fifty yards of hard acceleration, almost as if it were on gravel.

My car did that on the original-spec rock-hard BFG tires. Problem went away with stickier rubber, although they don't last quite as long due to greater available cornering forces.

Lot os our cars are getting 'tired' in the suspension department too. Bushings get loose, shocks more compliant, etc. All of this stuff contributes to wandering butt syndrome.

Of course, you can always put a raw egg in your right shoe. A few episodes of that will learn ya about delicate use of the loud pedal.
