Default Murf SC belt wear.

Can anyone confirm that my belt looks fine? Tension is good with no slip and the dark band in the pic just seems to be excess rubber wearing away (it just rubs off with my finger.

This is normal.

There is a small layer of rubber on the back side of the belt that wears away when first installed and then will go away. I think this happens within 500 miles but I never really did a true evaluation on this.

If you know the mileage when you started and you can give some feedback when it stops I will use that as the benchmark for future inquiries.

Thanks for posting the question.

That is interesting. I remember earlier this year there was a discussion about new, but worn looking, timing belts. (maybe about RSKY BIZ 's car?)

Could this be the answer?

SC belts are a lot tighter than normal accesory and timing belt so it wears out much faster, especially the small layer of non reinforced rubber on the back.

superchargers are supposed to leave lots of "rubber" behind...typically from the tires!!
