VERY interesting engine picture here, too bad the image is so small.

Is it this one??? It says "This Porsche is one of a kind"...

Here is a larger view of the engine:

Here are some vital stats:

Displacement: 4664 ccm
Compression ratio: 8.0 : 1
2 MPD compressors
Modified K-Jetronic
Custom pistons by Mahle
Additional oil cooler
Secondary coling fan
400HP at 6200rpm
0-100km/h: 5.2 sec.
0-200km/h: 20.5 sec.
Top speed 272 km/h with factory gear ratio
Estimated about 295km/h with cusstom gear ratio

The author of the article was especially thrilled about the stability of the car at speeds above 250 km/h (155 mph), the power and torque, and the lack of any thermal problems despite the power.

I did not even think of this one initially, because Arthur was talking about a widebody conversion. This one does not seem any wider than normal - just has the side skirts added. One of Vittorio's more moderate works...

Nicole, thank you very much for digging this up and posting the vastly better
engine picture and specifications too!!! <img src="graemlins/bigok.gif" border="0" alt="[thumbsup]" />

The air intake hoses coming from the radiator support "appear" to sort of
simply end above the upper front shock mounting.... I wonder how the
intake air is plumbed to the rear of the plenum???
I would have thought they would have done a less "homemade" looking job on the fender crossbrace...

I had a different "mental picture" of what the Strosek bodywork in question
was as well. I was thinking "wide body" with the high-mounted rear wing on more
centrally located uprights/pedestals. This one is quite conservative by comparison.

Thank you Nicole for the pictures!

Everyone here at rennlist is great!

My car has the pictured strosek twin supercharger but my car looks VERY DIFFERANT.

My car is a widebody with huge fenders, wings, scoops, etc.

Also my car has solid "MOON DISC" wheel covers the color of my car.

It is seriouslly WILD!!!

Hello Arthur,

With the twin supercharged motor, I would put the car back to the original Strosek body.

The engine is a very rare piece of engineering, even Strosek has no (or isn't sharing) any information on your engine. We've had one or our local 928 Owners attempt to get info on your engine after seeing pictures of it in a magazine. Please post some pics Arthur of the car and of the engine, it would be very interesting to get some more detailed info on the twin roots blower set up.

The article talks about Srosek planning to create a widebody version of this car, as the tires were too "skimipy" for the raw power. The car pictured has only 225 size tires, and with the wide body they expected to fit 345 or 275 wide ones.

Now I wonder, if they converted the same car into a wide body later, or if Arthur's wide body is an entirely different car.

To the best of my knowledge, Strosek was just starting out around that time, so he might not have had the funds to do another one from scratch - unless of course the one pictured here sold quickly. Nobody knows how many of those engines were made... Strosek had to compete with his former employer's 470 hp compressor engine (Koenig).

So, Arthur, what color is yours?

I dug some more in my 928 literature collection, and might have found a picture of Arthur's car. Unfortunately, this flyer was in black and white only, but it shows the green car from above (Version I), a mediuim wild Version II, and the wild "Version III" which matches Arthur's description. The flyer is from around '84.

Enjoy...

I have spent some time trying to get Strosek to give me detail one about the engine. Their reply (about 5 times) was that this was done by a contractor whose company long since has ceased to exist. There's nothing that would make me happier than to be able to get a hold of a Strosek supercharger.

So, if we're voting, my vote is: make your car available to interested manufacturers, so that the supercharger can be made available to others who love the 928. If you are interested in doing something along those lines please let me know.

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you all so much for your thoughts, keep them coming.

The prize goes to Nicole, my car is in fact the car depicted in her photo's as the version III car.

I have spoken with Strosek about selling me the "old parts" and he is willing to do so as the car holds a sentimental spot for him. Apparentlly it really was one of his first cars and he loves 928's to this day.

I think at this point I will definatlly restore the car to original Strosek 1984 spec. It, to me anyway, is a special example of the 1980's Tuner Market and it would be wrong to change it.

As for who I will have fix the car I'm not quite sure, taking a old 928 and using it as a parts car would leave me with paint work, used parts and not a great end result.

As crazy as it sounds I think I might send the car back to Germeny for Strosek to work on. He was so receptive to help me when I spoke with him last that who now's. It would allow me to have the work done properly and he the opurtunity to know that one of his original works remains intact.

Thank you all for your help & I would love to get copies of the info everyone has, this way I could start to create a folder for the car.

As for pictures I will take some and post them for all of you to enjoy.

Thankfully,

Arthur

PS

I noticed something called 928 Frenzy in Sept-Oct outside of DC. Maybe I should bring the car there this year and then again next year for a public before and after!!!!

W.A.Mozart,

YES I AGREE WITH YOU ABOUT THE ENGINE IN THE CAR!

I SHOULD SHARE!!!

When I first contacted strosek about getting parts he was reluctant to help, then when I sent him the cars Vin # and pictures with a personal note he could not have been helpful.

Strosek is a true artist, he works with cars not paint, it is that simple.

As such he has a pasion for his original works but not for selling kits. Thus the liscensing of his stuff to Jacqumond etc. He told me it is more fun and a challange for him to make something better that to fight people he try to sopy his desighns.

As such he offered to remake the old parts for me as a one time only basis as I understood it. He further explained that there is to much liability and red tape in making tunner cars today. This is why he avoids this type of project. My car would be a bit of a "weekend project" for him.

With this in mind I ask you and all others to not sworm Strosek with letters for old parts as selfishly it may deter his interest in helpping me with my car.

As for the engine I'm going to ask it to be rebuilt and freshened up as although only having 5,000 miles it has not run at much moore than an idle in 18 years!

I will have the egine build-up totally documented for the cars folder as I think the engine is just killer, it looks like something out of the MAD MAX car.

I thank you all for your help and will push forward with this project.

Faithfully,

Arthur

Strosek,

Your car is really cool! I would restore that baby to how it was and would add a few "New Trix"

I saw and rode in a Strosek 928 V2 while living in Wurzburgh in 1985. The car was a Beast too!! I have been on a mission since to build a similar car. I worked with Olivier Jaquemond and he came up with a unique design for the body, and it's pretty WILD!! In looking at your engine specs, I noticed that the compression had been lowered to 8:0:1 and that each head has a blower unit. I was wondering how much boost it is making, and do you know what pistons were used? I find the performance numbers listed to be somewhat of a disappointment. Actually I think those nunbers are wrong, because those times are not that far from stock numbers and your car is Far from stock!! The car I rode in was much quicker than those times also... So please don't take that as a "slam"

Please post some pics of the car in it's current condition. You have a great car to re-build and there are a lot of things you could do to add to the design. I think getting Strosek to update it would be the ULTIMATE as long as he was willing to update and improve... especially the strut tower brace!

Good luck on whatever you decide to do!

Abby I'm going to post pictures of my car for you and all rennlist members as soon as I can. The car is up in the Philadelphia area now in a wherehouse where my family keeps some of are "extra" cars. I grew up there and moved to Florida about four years ago. I left the 928 behind because where it is very safe.

I often, 10 - 12 times a year, are up there visiting family and friends. On my next trip I will visit my old girls and take some pic's.

It will give me an excuse to run the countach!
