Question Hatch Adjustment

Seems to me that I read a post about adjusting the rear hatch somewhere on the board. Mine is a little out of alignment and if adjusting is not too complicated I would like to give it a shot. If anyone knows of a post or could give me the thumbnail I would be grateful. Also wondering about the difficulty level: six pack, twelve pack ... case? <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/beerchug.gif" />

Is it the whole hatch (12 pack) or just the latch (pony bottle)?

Dave Roberts suggested that I use pennies as shims to adjust the alignment on mine and it worked like a charm

I used some thick plastic and cut a shim to fit the part on the hatch...also - you may be able to re-position the receptacle for the piece on the hatch to better 'catch'

There are seveal kinds of misalignment, as you might have gathered from the answers that you have received.

You will get more meaningful answers if you define the misalignment a little more fully.

I too am interested in the "alignment" issue. I plan to replace my whole hatch with the "S4" version to accommodate the wing and eliminate the spoiler. Comments and instructions would be appreciated.

Thanks for all of the input, guys. To answer Wally's question: My rear hatch appears "off" by about an eigth of an inch. To be more specific, it is as if it has "slipped" straight back just enough to where the latch release will not release the hatch and the hatch does not line up with the rest of the body. If someone could tell me how to do it, and assuming you are still wondering what I am talking about, I could post a picture. Maybe a note to Randy in that regard is in order. Thanks again.

I'm going to keep an eye in this thread. My hatch has slipped the same way and I can see no way short of removing and modifying the hinges to get it right. There is access to the hinge bolts under two caps inside on the headliner, but not enough play in the hinge mounting to make a difference.

I hope someone comes up with an answer.
