how to install intake manifold on porsche 928 1988 with auto trans
How do i reinstall the intake manifold on a 1988 porsche 928? I took it off I I can't remember what goes where and what needs to be connected. I took it off so I can try to clean out the idle air speed valve. My car died while idling and I read if I cleaned it it might work. Does any one have step by step instructions on how to reinstall it? Possible with pictures? Does any one know where to get parts that I might have lost like screws or bolts, or that thin vacuum line that snapped?
thanks, dan

Dan. Do you have any manuals? That would be a good start. You can find them in paper and CD. As far as any missing parts, any of the big 3 should be able to fix you up. Vacuum lines and fasteners can probably be found locally. Perhaps someone can scan you some info from one of their manuals and e-mail it to you. I might be able to help you if I can remember how to pull images off of my CD.

Wow Dan, how long has it been apart? There should be a vacuum diagram on the underside of the hood to tell you where the lines go. The plastic (nylon) line that snapped is one of the vacuum lines. Replace all the rubber elbows
in the vacuum system. Is the flappy and idle stabilizer still mounted on the bottom of the intake? If you removed it, replace all the gaskets. How is the paint on the intake? Now might be a good time to refresh everthing up top. I.E. intake paint/powder coat, vacuum elbows, idle stabilizer, fuel injector balance and new seals, knock sensors, etc.
Where are you located? You need the manuals and/or an experienced wrench friend/fellow 928 owner. Other than the vacuum lines almost everything else is self explanatory in that it will only fit one way.
Good Luck!

location
I am in san diego, on friday I am going to buy some more tools "borrowed a ****ty tool set to remove intake manifold" I don't know any one in san diego who has a 928. I cannot find on the computer 928 workshop manuals on how to reassemble it. i am not sure where to get the gasket at or most of the vacuum stuff. I probably will spend friday and part of the weekend cleaning the intake manifold out. thanks, dan

1st step
contact jim morehouse - just search for his name here and get a set of his CD's - all the info P ever made about the 928.
then spend the next week reading.
visit harbor freight and buy a 1/2" and a 1/4" drive socket set, a set of ratchet spanners and a set of offset ring spanners - should keep you going for now (as time goes on you can develop a serious tool addiction)
then hide your wallet
and visit www.928gt.com www.928intl.com www.928srus.com www.928motorsports.com
then hide your wallet again and forget the logon to your payapal account.
Good on ya for trying, you came to the best place to ask questions first.
