Question Surface rust on rotors

My '83 has been sitting for awhile (don't ask) and the rotors have developed some surface rust. Any thoughts on what to do about it.

I am planning to do a brake job, but was not planning on replacing the rotors at this time.

Thanks!

Is the car drivable? If so, take her out for a spin. If not - Lift her up, remove the wheels and take a scotch pad to them. No chemicals though - you don't want to taint the rotors or the pads. Major surface rust may require the rotors turned or replaced.

Not a big deal. The rotors on my '79 will develop light surface rust in less than a week of sitting. Even the brand new ones i just put on. I live in a humid climate, so there is not much i can do about it. When i get around to painting the calipers, i have to remember to do the rotor hats in a nice silver finish to match the wheels. Nothing looks worse that rusted rotor hats.
