Question What part is this

I have a 79 that I am restoring. There is a part hanging on the cross brace under the hood that has a vac line or something attached to it also 2 elec. tabs at the bottom. What the heck is this for?

The part is your A/C idle air solenoid. When you turn on the A/C the solendoid opens a valve to let more idle air into the engine. This keeps the engine from stalling with the extra drag caused by the A/C compressor. BTW there should be two vacuum lines going to it.

Its the solenoid valve for the AC compressor "idle increase" when you turn on the AC.

Thanks, I was hoping it was something like that. It didn't seem to effect the way it ran. I'll have to figure out where the wires have gone.

You are looking for a black wire that runs to the same connector as the A/C clutch wire, and a brown wire that runs to ground.
