Does anybody know if the 80/100 Watt H4 bulbs can be used in the 928 without having to install power relays? Is each beam fused at 8 amps?
I wired in some 100/130s into my 944 with relays, but I don't want to go through the trouble of installing the relays with the shark.
Thanks

it's not the wires that can't handle it, it's the headlight switch. the extra current causes arcing on the contacts in the switch and then it fails. same problem on VWs and Audis.
avoid replacing multiple switches and do the relays...

John,
I used 80/100's in my '82 without any additional relays and haven't had any problems. I think the recommendation (on the 928 Spec. site?) was that anything more than that and you need to use the relays.

I have H4 Hella flats also and I run PIAA 130/160. I don't have any problems. Well, actually I've gone through a set of bulbs already...so maybe there is a problem, with the bulbs.
But relays and switches, everything is still working. Knock on wood, hope I didn't just jinx myself.
