i dont see it as throwing it away i see it as upgrading to something more reliable and less stress financially so depending on what i can get for mine will determine how much i have to come up with for this one which i have my eyes on at the moment

anyone who can give me a realistic idea of what i can expect for my 928 that would be great thanks

You said it will not go into gear the clutch is not declutching, it was overheating, now it blows out white smoke, the interior is trashed and you were going to paint it . What is there to love ? The prior owner was ASKING $2,500 and he could not sell it. What you have is maybe a $1,000 project if someone is dumb enough to think they can save it.

i did clean the interior however it does need a new dash because its cracked and id say that the front seats need to be re upholstered, i wanted to paint it a different color but realised that would be a dumb idea because it would cost me a hell of alot more than it would to repaint it to the factory color with the doorjams engine bay etc. it does drive i drove it yesterday but when your sitting still and try to engage the clutch its tempormental itl grind sometimes but other times it will go into gear i spent like 2 hours last night driving it around and trying to figure out why it does that but no idea i dont believe its over heating i just listed the parts that the previous owner said i should replace...... thermostat, clutch, slave cyl and rear main seal the parts i see other than that which i would replace are the air intake tubes and change the plugs and wires which i havent done yet im just trying to figure out the most logical way to go about this so keeping my options open

Post some pics of your car...that's the only way anyone can give an informed estimate.
That ebay GT link you posted should be well over 10K...Is that in your budget?

JDM
Charley B
You are right; there is even many JDM vehicles for sale right here in my town, due to an ambitious importer. There is a mint black 944 racing around town here that was imported from Japan. Just once in a person's life, they should own a vehicle called "Bongo" or "pop-joy"
Cars like the Skyline GTR's are becoming a more common site than 928's in Vancouver. Or perhaps one of these to haul the kids to soccer
I would trade the cheap JDMs for sub $3k 928 daily drivers or sub $1k parts/track cars
regards
Ken

so i have good news deciding to keep it since finding out by a specialty mechanic what the exact issues are the smoke is being caused by an exhaust leak and hollowed out cat and the clutch does not need to be replaced but the throwout bearing does and also the slave cylinder does and the only other mechanical issue is the thermostat which is stuck open so the total repair of my vehicle will be alot less than i expected so im going to be keeping it after all

mr layton108 we're really glad that you've decided to keep the car and want to encourage you to continue to use our friendly neighborhood forum obviously if you want to receive assistance and support down the road may I strongly suggest that you take an English grammar course since it appears that you're an un-educated semi-illiterate typist using your two index fingers you never use any standard punctuation capitalization or other normally accepted standards of sentence construction this greatly causes distress for your readers since they would like to help but in having to deal with someone of your limited skills we must make up for that lack of communication skills on your part and work extra hard to get anything across to you i will comment that at least you're not using TLAs and other stupid shorthands that aren't really applicable to this type of board or forum on the other hand it wouldn't really hurt that you use standard punctuation if you wish to be taken seriously thanks again for reading this since i had to shut down half my brain to be able to type like this you can imagine then that most readers of anything you post end up just giving up and not bothering or maybe you just want to appear to be stupid who knows so welcome to the club fix the car and use punctuation in your postings is that too hard for you
