Jim. Good point there. The 245/50's i have on the rear now (and thats on a 8") just look a bit too tall in the back. I am thinking the 245's will cut my diameter to match closer to the fronts. (if the fronts are 24.9)......a 245/45 should be near 24.6 versus the 25.7 now with the 245/50's. (plus just a smidge more narrow). But, that size tire cuts my options by 50%+ it seems. (all relative if $$$ is not a factor though).

Just a thought. Sears is having a sale through this weekend on tires and other things. I priced out the AVS sport Yokohamas 225/50/16 at 120.00 that's $2.00 cheaper then tire rack and no shipping charges but there is taxxx. Just a little better deal.

Chucker....thanks. (I've used them many times before) I must admit with Sears, you never have an issue should there be a problem.

I gotta share this one.........

I went to a local dealer also which was on the local PCA site as a contributor. Asked about tires, and they mentioned the 712's. I said ok, lets get a price.........$714.......yes $714. (now there is a favor <img border="0" alt="[ouch]" title="" src="graemlins/c.gif" /> )

No doubt that this site will have all sorts of tire information.

Too bad we could not get a single 928, a set of each tire, and run on highway, local roads, rain, AutoX, and like here at RoadAtlanta D/E for a report.......

correct at 245 x 50 is basically 245 MM x 50% for a sidewall height of 122.5 MM but you see both the top and bottom sidewall so it is twice that or 245 MM added to the diameter of the wheel . the "correct" 245x45 is a 110.25 MM side wall or 220.5 MM added to the diameter difference of about 25 MM or one inch of diameter of the tire which matters both to the eye and accuracy of your speedo .
