Hi Dave,

I am not aware of any children. I will confirm with his family and friends what the most appropriate way to use the funds beyond what is spent on a fruit basket and let everyone know.

Thanks to everyone for the support

Hi Stan,

Thank you very much for this! It is very much appreciated.

The idea of the Dog Charity in Scott's name is so appropriate. In the fog of the last few days I hadn't yet thought of all the memories I have of his love for animals and especially dogs. Your post has brought back a flood of those memories this morning and Tarek's suggestion is perfect.

In talking with Tarek this morning he made a comment that he was pretty sure Josie mentioned that Scott did have a specific Humane society he wanted part of his money to go to. Tarek is going to confirm that with Josie ASAP and Jeannie is going to try and set up a Memorial Fund in Scott's name there. We are also trying to get a picture of Scott with his late best friend Bud to put up at this location. We will forward the information to Stan as well as post it here as soon as we know something for sure.

For those of you who never had the pleasure of witnessing his love and caring for dogs and other animals, here a just a few of the many memories we have that may help you to see why the suggested charity is so very appropriate.

Luckily for Jeannie and I our geographical location made us one of the unofficial "half way houses" for Scott on his many trips and journeys to either visit and help friends or to pick up another vehicle (usually a 928). Scott always knew our house was open to him and thankfully for us he visited often. Scott always made it a point to talk with and play with our dogs (either Hardee years ago and for the last 3+ Thor) and his affection was always been obviously genuine. They were both also genuinely excited to see him anytime he visited. During a period about 4 years ago Jeannie and I were doing our best to take care of Hardee, our 14 year old best friend who's mind and body was declining pretty rapidly. It was during that time that Scott brought up the idea of doing Chiropractic adjustments on Hardee to ease some of his pain and give him some relief. To be honest at that time I had never heard of such a thing and seriously thought he was joking, not this time! Scott tapped into his extensive knowledge of Chiropractics and ever so gently started working his magic on Hardee. Even though Hardee was in pretty bad shape at this time there was no doubt he did seem to be in less pain after just the first time. This continued at each subsequent visit from Scott, and I do believe that Hardee came to look forward to Scott's visits even more than Jeannie and I did, and that is saying a lot.

A few months later some idiot (that would be me) accidentally backed over Hardee's rear leg and pulled his hip of of socket. Due to his age and weak state, he couldn't figure out how to walk on 3 legs while the damaged leg was bound up for a few weeks. About this time Scott has here for another visit and as usual tried with all his knowledge to give Hardee more relief. I finally had had enough and cut the bandages off of him and Scott spent the afternoon portion of his visit walking around in our back yard with Hardee doing his best to encourage him to walk again. Shortly after Scott's visit he did indeed start to walk again.

Not long after that on Scott's next visit Hardee's Alzheimer's had hit so very hard that Hardee would just walk around endlessly in circles. Again, Scott spent the afternoon literally walking around in circles along with Hardee giving him love and encouragement. He did this so long and got so dizzy that it was the first time I had ever seen Scott not be able to walk a straight line. That says a lot after all the years of friendly drinking we all have done together! :-)

Shortly after that Hardee left us and I know without a doubt Scott made the last part of his life better and happier, thanks again Scott!

Scott was also preceded in death earlier this year by his best friend Bud. I feel that they are all playing together in a happy place!

Just wanted to give some of you a little insight into other aspects of Scott's amazing personality and caring for not only his 2-legged friends, but also his 4-legged friends.

For those who are interested or have contributed, I ordered a fruit basket from 1800flowers.com I did so after a discussion with Tarek who has been in contact with Josie. This is scheduled to be delivered tomorrow to the funeral chapel (that has confirmed they can store it overnight) with the following note:

"Scott was well thought of and will be greatly missed by us all. The family and friends of Scott are in our thoughts."

"With sincere sympathy, The members of the Porsche 928 community."

Tarek also confirmed that a contribution in Scott's name should be made to Bedford County Humane Society. (I question the spelling I have but will confirm that next week). Contributions are still coming in.

Stan,
That is the one I thought it would be, here is their contact info (with correct spelling).

Bedford County Humane Society
Po Box 205
Bedford Pa 15522
814-623-8968

If anyone calls directly, ask for Donna. We are already discussing a Memorial Plaque in Scott's name with her.

Just got off the phone with the Bedford County Humane Society again and they informed me the board has set up a seperate memorial fund in Scott's name.

Any donations need to be earmarked to go to "The Scott Mohr Memorial Fund". They will also stay in touch with Josie and keep her updated about the Memorial Funds and some of its usage.

This IS a perfect benefit for Scott and Im really glad Bedford is putting up a special fund JUST for Scott. That and the plaque would really make him proud.

I was at his house for the weekend before Bud past away. Bud was suffering and I could tell it was tough for Scott but all he talked about was when Bud used to be a runner. I swear I saw Scotts tongue hang out a couple times and it was almost like he was wagging his tail too!! They were definitely one together.

A couple weeks later after Bud was gone, Scott was at my house. If you knew Scott, you knew he didn’t like ANY dust or dirt near him when he was “working” (on a car). He would regularly grab my broom and sweep up “stuff” that I couldn’t even see. Then Onxy, my black lab, would come out to the garage and jump all over him and get hair/grass/leaves all over him! He would always have this huge evil grin!! HA! Dust himself off and jump back into working. Few minutes later, he would remember that he DOESN’T like “dirt” and start cleaning up again! I always just laughed a little, too funny.

Then I told Scott about how I might be “losing” (long story, depressed enough, wont get into why) Onyx. He turned into Lawyer Scott! We talked about this for hours! Then we put our refreshments down and got back to finishing our work.

When he was leaving Onyx walked him over to his jeep, they hugged, and he stood up and looked at me and said “Say Goodbye”. Opened the door, Onyx jumped in and he drove away!!

Yes, about 10 minutes later he returned, I was starting to actually sweat it! He pulled up, let her out and said, “Watch it, or I’m going to do this for real, and your welcome to come visit her until your sure it’s safe for her to return.” I think he was serious! He would have truly taken her that day and provided for her until she could come back! He seemed to be that way about helping everyone. Great guy! Really wish I had known him longer. I know Onyx cries every now and then too. Thanks Stan, Tarek, DR and everyone for setting this up. Perfect!

This is a pic Scott sent me while he was working on the car I bought from him. I asked about the dog, and he sent this reply. Made me laugh.

Dog: That's my hound 'Bud'. He was having a time out on his mat. He snarfed my pizza crust and got yelled at.
