I just had my Pilkington Glass windshield installed yesterday via this "group" buy. I purchased the glass through Michelle. She arranged for it to be shipped from a south Jersey warehouse to the installer. I drove an hour away and paid $175.00 for the installation.

Was a great deal for me. The shop owner said that he would have had to charge me $900.00 if I purchased the windshield from him!!

Those going to Sharktoberfest will be getting a killer deal at $365 installed!!!!
The guy had a hell of a time with my install. It seems the glass was replaced once before (was Porsche glass so I never knew). Well the other installer slammed the glass up to high and into the top molding clips. Needles to say, my top molding is no longer usable.

Good thing the one from the track car is still good

Call Michelle. As of our conversation yesterday, she didn't know the exact mix of makers. There's a list of committed (or should-be-committed) owners already, with their preferences. The sooner you get on her list the better chance you have would be my guess.

As John V. pointed out, this is a screamin' deal even for those who won't get Sharktoberfest installation. It all starts with your phone call...

I just couldn't see clear to get new glass myself until now.

I just looked close at my new windshield. It shows SIGLA
Pilkington makes SIGLA? My old windshield was also a SIGLA.

This was the surprise Bob alluded to in post #45. Not clear what's on the truck coming this way......

YEP. Pilkington OPC's glass as it's available. A few of the shipped pieces may be Sigla branded. A bit of good luck for those who want to keep the original glass brand. For others, you may find that the soft easy-to-chip Sigla glass isn't as good for your situation as the harder Pilkington. Still no word on the local mix from Michelle. I'm not nervous yet about making the weekend schedule, just a little concerned. More tomorrow (Monday) after a morning phone call.

I'll be envious if John V. gets bragging rights to a new Sigla glass for $365 and it's the only one... Good one John, it's a bit of good luck that you deserve, especially after the water pump fun.

Default Another Updata-- Glass has arrived!

Just spoke with Michelle, who let me know that the glass has arrived. That's the Good News. The Great News is that all the glass she has is SIGLA branded, a Major Plus for those with windshield needs. Again, this is a screamin' deal at $365.

Right now she has 5 windshields uncommitted in the SoCal shipment, with 5 days to go until the event. I'd like to make sure that everybody who wants glass is able to get it, and at the same time I also don't really want to see Michelle sitting on "extra" windshields when we are done. There are a few timeslots open for Saturday install at the Sharktoberfest event, or you can schedule directly with her for a non-event install appointment if that's more convenient. Saturday installs of the 5 remaining pieces need to be coordinated through her as soon as possible, of course.

In the US, Pilkington has these windshields, plus only 5 others in their Ohio warehouse. The rest of the US inventory is the Chinese glass. Pilkington says that they won't be doing another manufacturing run of these until late 2008 earliest. Non-SoCal US owners have the option of ordering the glass from Michelle at the Sharktoberfest price, delivered to you or to your local installer. She mentioned that a Canadian owner will be picking one up in Seattle and smuggling it home mounted between the A-pilars of the car... A creative solution for sure! So lots of options!

Bill-- This should answer your question... Got room in the back to carry your 'old' windshield home with you? No on the way home then.

Just got home with mine, WOW ! I guess I didn't realize how bad my windshield was.

BTW, our local glass guy assured me that we got a really good deal on the glass. He charged me 110.00 to install it.

Thank you 928 Intl. for hooking us up

Dr Bob and I just got back from installation at Gabe and Michelle's shop- Dropped off the car at 11, went for pastrami nearby, back at 12:30 just as Gabe was buttoning up. $365 installed. An amazing improvement, the views of the Chino hills thru the windshield coming over the 57 hump while driving over to 928Intl on Miraloma were breathtaking.....

Gabe did recommend staying below 65 mph on the trip back to Irvine, I didn't realize such good gas mileage was possible!

There are still a few Sigla windshields availble, call Michelle now, operators are standing by!!!!!! No affiliation, just a (very) satisfied customer, yada yada yada.

Gabe in action, taking off the rearview mirror:

Whole lotta shark glass:

Default My Outlook has Improved!

Pretty impressive results from new glass, that's for sure. The old one had a bit of sandblasting, and some fogging of the plastic laminate layer due to age. New one is crystal clear.

As Rob mentions, there are still 5 available here in SoCal, and a similar number of pieces available to ship to you or to your installer from Pilkington's warehouse in Ohio. You'll have to arrange your own installation, although Michelle can usually help you find a qualified installer local to you. She's arranged for glass for folks in NJ, Connecticut, the midwest, northwest, etc. already.

Hope you can take advantage of this show special!

Just got off the phone with Michelle and I was able to get in on this deal. There are still a couple left I think.

At this price, I just bought a spare.

These are the only supply in the whole US. Pilkington will not run another batch of these before the end of next year, they said. Of course there's always the wavy Asian glass option.

This is Sigla glass Porsche wants over $1200 for. Maybe they should rethink their pricing.
