Okay everyone, you all know that my odometer periodically works. The speedometer works all the time though.
Well, I figured out its pattern, now all I have to do is figure out why.
The pattern is, if the car sits for a long period of time, say overnight or at least 8-10hours the odometer will work for approximately 1 mile to 3 miles. Usually in the mornings I will leave for work and depending how long I let it warm-up will depend on how many miles it will work. The longer I let it warm-up the less miles it will work.
Now how can this be?? Why is it when the car warms-up the odometer stops working?? This one has me stumped. It makes no sense to me however Im sure one of you out there has an answer.
Thanks again for all the help.

Curt-
My guess is that your speedo has an electronics problem. When the electronics heat up after a few minutes, they begin to fail. May be a bad solder joint on the board. Example, the 944 DME's are notorious for having bad solder joints. Car will be fine when cold, but after a bit of heat gets to them, car won't start, run lousy, etc. I think same thing is happening in your speedo.

Scott, I have replaced the printed circuit board less than a year ago. When I replaced it all guages and lights started working. Maybe I need to replace it again but hate to spend that kind of money every year on the printed circuit board. I took the instrumentation apart just a few weeks ago and checked and cleaned everything thinking that a connection was bad, but there are so many solder points and other points of connections im not sure where to look.
