Im totally stunned to check today at the tyre shop that my 1992 GTS wears a pair of what looks like totally original 8" wheels with a 52mm offset on the rear (7.5 on the front with 65mm offset).
I thougth that Porsche installed 9" rims with 55mm offset on ALL GTSīs.
Comments???

Yes! They do have RDK sensors. This is what I meant when I said look is totally original.
The rim width and offset is shown on the sides of the valve, as it should be. And it reads 8 and 52. Amazing!!! I didnīt notice till today at the tyre shop (I only have my GTS for two months now).
The RDK computer is not bypassed. It seldomly remembers me something is wrong even when the tyres are O.K. ;-)

Keeping in mind that no 1992 GTS models were made for or sold in America, it may be possible that the setup you have is OEM for 1992 GTS',but not for any other year GTS. YMMV.
Personally, I think it's not OEM since the GT models that preceed it had rear wheels that were 9" wide.

Truly weird. So they are all 17" Cup 1 type?
Like Ed said I can't see Porsche going from a
16" x 9" Design 90 on '90 and above models to a 17" x 8" wheel for the GTS...doesn't make sense.
Doesn't mean it didn't happen, and is not a US version for sure.

Yes, they are 17" Cup 1 all corners.
The car is an euro ( me too ;-) ). I bougth it in Germany from the second owner. But I have seen a lot of GTS and even 92īs wear 9" rims.
I will make some pictures of the car and rim this weekend and post here.
Greetings to everybody!

Both the 1992 brochure for Germany and the one for the US list the rear rims as 9 x 17.
Have you actually measured them?
Is it possible that these were special ones for winter tires with snow chains?
