Yes, olias Dave - all model years use ATF for the (brake - uh, no) POWER STEERING system. Sounds like you need to buy an Owner's Manual ASAP - available from 928 Specialists, 928 International, and others, for around $20.00. Do it now and get many answers about your car's systems and capabilities.

Talking

You guy's....
I noticed no one is signing off with the once
proud 'BAHWaaaaaah' anymore. Ahhh, Wanor1...
What a kick it will be. I predict that sometime within the upcoming year you will make a discovery of such magnitude that it will, undoubtably, leave a very BIG grin - either from pleasure or terror- plastered on your face for so long you will become self conscious about it.
On the other hand, come to think of it,
Pattycakes and I have been cruising a bit more sedately as of late.
wanor1, the 928 has a LOT to offer, performance, braking, handling, comfort, - did I mention headturning, good looks -, and lets face it a certain... exclusivity of ownership.
On the other hand get an owners manual, buy a set of ohm meters, trickle charger, any manual you can lay your hands on and above all visit the Greg Nochols site, and read the posts/replies, and archives of all 928 sites. You can learn a lot from other peoples grief.
Hear this, again! Change your fluids, now!
That's baseline. Start listening to your sHARk, it has a lot to say. Over time you will be able to discriminate between the normal and odd. If there isn't documented maintenance records on your sHARk talk to the PO and/or start your own records keeping soon.
I have had good luck with my 928 ...so far... and I wish the same for you.
Welcome to the world of the -almost- exotic.
Owners run the gamut of society - world wide -, all are opinionated, and some of us prefer beer over Chateau' de Zippo.
Enjoy!

Thumbs up

Sounds like you got a good car. THEY ALL HAVE GREMLINS...some more than others. You will sort them out over time. Id start with fluid changes. OIL..tranny...coolant..Powersteering..brake..
Then id dive right into a timing belt/water pump replacement
Piece of mind with all those items behind you.
Drop the rear muffleer and get a RMB and really enjoy the BWAAAAHHH....feeling more bold, drop the cats!
not to sound like Ed "owners manual" Ruiz, but pick one up and glance throught the last few pages the detail the specs for the car...HP..weights..capacitys etc etc.

ENJOY!
CRANK YOUR VOLUME and...Click my link and you will see much of the work can be done your self on the car!
