Hello,
some of you might have followed my other thread here https://rennlist.com/forums/928-forum/374850-omg-i-think-i-am-buying-another-one.html
Well, I got the car, a closer inspection after work today seems it is as complete as I thought it would be with a mint interior in which the only damage is a 1" crack on the dash where the vents are, so a decent buy for that kind of money and definitely too nice to just part out.
The car is missing the two rear break discs, transmission and TT.
Does anyone know any part numbers of hoses / bowden cable / anything else that I will need to swap the '81 A/T and TT into this car? Are those the parts that are currently in my '81 or different ones?
Second question, besides checking the timing belt and fluids, what else should I check before starting the engine (without TT attached I guess) to find out how it is running?
Any help is greatly appreciated!
Marcus.

If you are swapping the 81's 3-speed into an 86.5 that had a 4-speed then, yes you have the parts. You will need the TT, Trans, shifter cable and one of the ATF lines near the trans. It's been awhile so hope I haven't forgotten anything, but if the 81 parts car has a complete setup in it, trans wise, then you have the parts you need to do this. Personally, I think you would be better off and much happier in the long run if you acquire a 4-speed trans like the car had originally and install that instead. Just my .02

if needed you could sell the 81 to finance the 86

Hey Jack,
thanks for the great info...yea, the drive train of the '81 A/T is complete, actually the A/T underwent a rebuild just before I aquired it with the parts car...I had no use for this transmission or TT up until now...my '81 5-speed is what I am concentrating on and is receiving a ground up restoration to original specs, so thats why the 32V from this car is not an option.
This 86.5 just came along and was too good to pass up, but probably nothing more than a little something to drive around for now and possibly a future track car, at which point I probably will look into a manual gear box conversion for it.
It's not that I don't want to spend the money on a 4 speed A/T, but it would be a waste considering it is just a temporary thing and I have all the 3-speed parts right here collecting dust with no other use for them planned.
Thanks again for your help!

No problem, and FWIW that 3-speed is a very smooth tranny. Let me know how it is with that 32 valve. Should be interesting and a great around town car. Good luck.

Hmmm...how about the drive axles/half shafts with the '81 A/T? Are they the same for the '81 and the '86.5? Because the ones in the '81 were also just rebuild and I would love to use them if possible...
