My timingbelt tensioner seems to have no nipples for filling and bleeding. The manual shows pictures with the nipples. So how do I fill this tensioner?

Page 15-20 of the manual shows the earlier tensioner without nipples. The tensioner has to be 1/3 filled with engine oill while reassembling. The version with nipples was introduced in MY83, according to the WSM

Then try to put it back on without spilling all the oil out; in the end i used one of those little old fashioned oil cans with a sort of spout tube to put the oil in when it was mounted on the block

BTW, now that the technical matter is settled, I can point out that I've heard of people wearing mismatched socks, but wearing mismatched shoes?

Thanks, but I don't know yet if I really need a newer one. Rest of the engine is in great shape (apart from that #$%@*& ciolinderhead gasket). Is this a part there wears out?
