Default WTB: 928 Carbon Fiber Hood

I'm interested in possibly picking up a Carbon Fiber Hood fro my 928. It's not for weight savings, but more for a custom look. My current hood is faily well pitted, so I started thinking that a CF hood might look pretty cool.

I'd prefer something that has a stock shape (no big hump) and hinge locations. Anyone have one that they want to get rid of?

Just put some carbon fiber stickers over your stock hood.
It'll be lighter, look like the Shizniz,

AND BE 10mph FASTER!!!!!!

You know, actually, I have been reading a few of those mags. Can't I be an import tuner too?

Maybe I need to play around with Photochop to get an idea of the finished look, but I'm pretty sure I'd like it. Anyway, if someone has one they want to sell by chance, let me know.

If your like me, and just need to do something for the sake of doing something... Paint your rear wing red, that will 1) update the look of the car ,2) now that youve got a red rear wing, and the car is all the same color, you wouldnt dare but a black colored hood on an otherwise RED car.

Also if you paint the wing, you just have them spray the hood as well

Its a win - win!

IMHO, that looks horible. I'm still looking for that gloss look, but with a CF finish.

There is a nickle coated fiberglass that looks silver when cured. Then clear coat it red or whatever color clear that your car is. You will have the CF weave but, not the ugly black hood

I've got some of that carbon fiber 'look' shelf paper.
It don't stick too good.

From now on, I"m going to call AO NISMO!
We've already got HP renamed Enzo.

Or would you prefer MUGEN!

You know. With that pretty SC setup, a clear polycarbonate hood would make more senes.

I like AO NISMO over MUGEN...

Clear polycarb would be a b!tch to keep clean, but it would be cool.

There is a guy over on pelican that was making stuff outta CF for 944 owners.

I have also seen some very nice CF colors out of Kestrel. Yes the bicycle manufacturer.

It would be technically possible to get a great color match and a CF hood for the 928 but I am sure it would cost a pretty penny. I think that I ponied up $100 or more for MK. I would be willing to do the same for "Pretty Carbon Fiber" for Andrews project. I better get one too though.

Is the group buy on?

Here is post stating that raw CF is extremely expensive right now:

https://rennlist.com/forums/showpost...&postcount=104

In a later post someone states CF is 'rare' because of the ravenous needs of the military.

That particular thread is very interesting as a Carrera GT owner is justifiably upset that the CF on his CGT is yellowing, and Porsche was not going to do anything about it under warranty.

Michael, have you identified a source that we could work with?
