if you want to save weight just throw your hood away. Anyway your low US speed limits prevent you from enjoying the aerodynamic benefits of having a hood.
So it is win/win.

Andrew, MixMasterK was the CF molder on pelican, that other-other board.
They used a colored epoxy or bonding agent on the final coat of the Kestrel. It was not kevlar.
It was actually a Kestrel 200scI "RUBY" good luck finding them. Pretty rare from what I have heard.

You're not going to post a picture of you, AO NISMO, posing with your newly painted hood, will you?
Do they still make those Pontiac Flying Chicken hood emblems?

Andrew, Have you considered wood decals on the sides for a station wagon look, Then some balsa boogie boards on the top for a beach boy effect. Perhaps an old T-bird spare tire mounted on the back? Mac

Mac,
Next thing you'll be asking Nismo to put on some bias ply whitewalls.
Boogie boards are OK. As long as he has the bikini babe with him.
Shhhh! Don't tell his wife.

I have no taste, so I'm in with you AO Nismo. Add "Rice-tung" to the list. One more step as my car slowly becomes a Honda. Actually I have been looking for a currently made CF hood for another car that could be cut, re-enforsed and bolted the the current under hood framing, but have not found anything yet. Not worried about top speed or weight either, just a mean hood with cool cut outs to get chicks.
I saw a very stock looking CF 928 hood on ebay about 6 months back so someone has made them before.

Remember to add that pulsing underhood neon Rice-tung.
Set the neon to pulse with revs or 'dance' to the beat of the sub.
The only good thing I saw on the Import Tuner show on Speed was the nekkid ladies.
