Post 928S - Upper front arms?

I wonder if you could help me with a copy of the CNC-program to make the front upper control arms?

I can have them made by a friend for the material cost so the cost and effort for you to have them made and sent halfway around the world would be non-existant.

If you rather have this discussion off-forum please mail me on anders@ixiviv.com

Thanks in advance!

Hi it's Greg here, are you referring to my cnc program that allows the use of late model wheels? If so what I have been told by the fellow who wrote the program that it would be difficult for others to understand his program. The only reason I have not sold these arms as yet is that I don't at this point have product liability insurance. I could sell them for about $1500 AUD that's about 7500 SEK I think.

The thing is about giving out the program then it can be copied and I could still get sued if somebody had some trouble i.e. an accident. So for the momment I will leave it at that. I'm sorry if that disapoints but you would find out to put late model wheels on, there is other changes that you need to make, while I'm not saying you couldn't do it, you would need to be committed to your car. Cheers Greg

Greg, instead of insurance you could get people to sign a waiver accepting full responsibility for using your parts. I've come across that kind of thing before.

Any of the lawyer's out there want to say how this works in the real world? <img src="graemlins/yltype.gif" border="0" alt="[typing]" />

Unhappy

Waivers are just another piece of paper that may or may not hold up under close scrutiny. Defense lawyers have been able to get judgements for their clients even when they've signed waivers. YMMV.

Sorry if does not help, but it better to know the real risks than to make decisions based on "best case scenarios".

I agree Ed, the waiver will not stop a party taking me to court, it would only serve as a piece of evidence, the weight alocated to the evidence would be determined following legal and technical arguement, engineers would need to give a report and then attend court, all this would be costing serious money.

So for the momment I will not sell the arms. What I would suggest if one of the big 3 or 4 wanted to sell them, then they could probably arrange some insurance. It would only be worthwhile if a quantity was ordered. So if a number of people come forward I will then look at it more seriously then. But thanks for your interest anyway.
