Troubleshooting the ABS
Thanks to several Rennlisters I've fixed my cruise control and identified some strange option codes. Now I'm hoping to tackle the ABS. Symptom: No ABS. The pod warning light illuminates as soon as the key is turned. Immediately after the engine starts the central warning system 'banner light' illuminates with 'antilock off'. This can be cancelled with the control stalk but repeats every 30 mins whilst driving. I've checked the fuse and the relay in the main board and the two relays in the hydraulic unit. All OK.
TIA. The board is a wonderful resource.

Hey folks...leave your damn cellphones at home-
About a year ago, an idiot in an isuzu trooper was tailgating me in Orlando's hideous traffic. In my rearview I could see him chatting on his cellphone...
Well, I sped up when I had the chance to put some distance between the sharkage and the Asian rectangle. Sure enough, the next light turned red, and despite the 25 mph speed limit and the 60 feet that I'd openned up between our vehicles, the idiot managed to run into the back of my 928.
Thank the good Doctor's engineers in Stuttgart; there was no damage.
[I was less than happy, by the way]
Or so I thought. A day later, the ABS light came on. I'm certain there was no coincidence. When the impact happened, I called the police, who told the idiot that he had Failed to Control His Vehicle, which I had advised him of already [he was like "Man, you're being an *******" and his girlfriend for some reason thought it was all about her.
[gawd she was a dragon!]
Anyway, I haven't had it diagnosed but I suspect a bad sensor or something. I've messed around with the wireing, hoping that a bad connection would rear its head, to no avail.
-The symptom is the ABS light coming on after I drive above about 10 mph. I push the button, and though the dashboard light stays on, the central warning system does not repeat itself.
Wonder what is wrong? Has anyone else seen this?

Colin, I cant really help you with the ABS - the problem I had was due to a bad relay. I agree the folks on the board are really great. But just in case I do have a Porsche Manual on ABS as a last resort.

Jack the car so you can get under it safely.
Check at each wheel for the wiring harness for the ABS. The sensors and toothed rings should be clean and the wires sould be unbroken.
The most likely problem is the round connectors located at each wheel. The outer jackets snap off to allow disconnecting. Take them apart and clean all of the connections.
