Sparky, If you mean the fan in front of the rad, the 1st thing to check is that there is a relay for the fan actually in the fuse panel. The fan on my 85 didn't work and i checked everything else 1st, finally found no relay in the #18 position. Replace it with just a regular Bosch relay .I ended up replacing the thermostatic switch at the drivers side bottom of the rad also.

You will get a better response if you tell what year your car is. Lots of differences between a '79 and a '94.

The standard temp for the earlier cars is 85 deg C coolant temp. Of course, depending upon the year, there are up to four sensors that can turn on the aux fan.

Sparky...
I recently had the same problem with mine, which is an '82. I checked all of the contacts, fuses, and finally took it to my mechanic. Turns out it was the switch or brain, that is mounted on the passenger side under the hood. The replacement from the big 3 was over $200. So my mechanic just bypassed the box, and set it to run whenever the a/c was on. Much less expensive. Good Luck!

The car is a 82' Euro S and it is the front fan which is giving me the trouble
If i short the temperature switch the fan comes on so i am presuming the relay is fine.

What temperature is the fan suppost to come on on my car?

Thanks,
Sparky

I have been told that the fan comes on at 92 Degrees and goes off at 87 degrees...

Sound right?

Ill take the shark for a long run tomorrow morning and see if the fan comes on.
If not i will order the switch...

Ill let you know,
Sparky

As stated in the original answer, the standard coolant temp switch is 85 deg C.

The fan should rarely come on in normal driving, except in hot weather slow driving or when the A/C is operating (and not always when the A/C is operating)
