If you can find S4 motors for $1500, can't you find me a cheap 5-speed GT or GTS gearbox?

These have the Borg-Warner type syncros, not the flimsy type as in my '83. I'm told there's no point in fixing mine because the syncros would only last 10 laps given my driving style.

It's -ALOT- harder to find a stick. Almost all 928s came with automatic's. Very rare. By the way, the later 5-speeds are just as bad . You will only have problems with the tranny if you power shift. A properly rebuilt tranny should get at least one year of track time. Most 911s only get six months. I would not tell the rebuider that you are using it to race and get a solid warranty.
